It's celebrated not only for its ornamental appeal but also for its traditional use in Māori weaving. With its long, slender leaves and aerial roots, Kiekie creates a captivating display, perfect for adding a touch of wilderness to your garden or landscape.

Wondering if you have the right environment for this type of plant?

Don’t hesitate to contact us for personal advice and check out the conditions in which Kiekie will thrive, below…

☀️ Light: Prefers semi-shaded areas, mimicking its natural under-story habitat. Can tolerate some sun but thrives in dappled light.

💧 Water: Requires consistent moisture. Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, but not waterlogged.

🌱 Soil: Thrives in rich, organic, well-draining soil. Being an epiphyte, it can also grow on trees, with its roots anchored in decaying material.

🌡️ Climate: Prefers a cool to temperate climate, typical of New Zealand forests. Can tolerate some cold but should be protected from frost.

💪🏻 Feed: Fertilise sparingly, as it's adapted to grow in nutrient-poor conditions. Use a balanced, slow-release fertiliser if necessary.

🌸 Flowers: Produces unique small flowers, male and female on different plants and occurs during the spring.
